Dark Cedar is our organic standout from the Gayo region in Sumatra. While many Indonesian coffees lose their quality in mass production, the Janus family ensures an extremely clean and sweet experience. You’ll discover rich notes of dark chocolate and roasted nuts, with hints of blackberry and tobacco.

The secret behind this flavor is ‘Giling Basah,’ or wet-hulling. The beans are hulled while they are still wet, which is unique to this region. This process gives the coffee its famous heavy body and keeps the acidity low. It results in an intense, almost syrupy coffee that holds up perfectly in milk drinks or as a powerful espresso.

This coffee is fully organic and handpicked on small plots averaging just one hectare. The local team on the ground monitors quality from the farmer all the way to us. You get an authentic piece of Sumatra in your cup, at the highest possible level.
